Ultimately, all of my
work arises from the creative tension that exists between the things I can
control and the things I cannot. For that reason I am particularly attracted to
printmaking in general and to monoprinting in particular. In monoprinting, I
utilize either an acid-etched zinc plate or a plexiglas plate that I have inked,
manipulated by wiping off and/or adding pigment, and then run through a press.
Each printing produces a somewhat unpredictable and unique result. For me,
monoprinting is a provocative expression of my thoughts about the wildness,
strength, and immutability of the natural world, predating and transcending
man’s attempts to alter it.
